ABOUT MS. RAY...
I have been working in libraries since 1999. I started my career then as an assistant, hoping to gain some experience in Library Science with a goal of going into museum work. I found I loved Librarianship! I began to work towards my MLS while working at Athens Drive, a combination high school & public library. The pace was awesome. I did graduate internship work at NCSU's D.H.Hill Library during my studies, and learned while there that there was a disconnect between the research skills students have when they graduate high school, and the skills necessary to be successful in a college, or university, setting. Bridging this gap has become my passion! I work diligently to insure that the Library Media Center has an open and welcoming environment, as well as collaborating with instructional staff to insure that students will leave Vernon Malone College & Career Academy well prepared for whatever the future holds!

I am originally from Tennessee, and have lived in NC since 1997. I have 4 children, 2 sets of twins! My older twins are 29, and my younger twins are 16. I spend a lot of my spare time with them. I enjoy reading (obviously!) and traveling all over to see anything of historical interest. I am an information junkie...I love to go on the journey and find out how things worked, or why they happened. I also love to drag my kids with me when I go!! I love my animals (cats and pup pup), as well as listening to music, hanging out with friends, and listening to birds in the early morning on my front porch.
I LOVE new technology, and really get crazy ecstatic to play with new technology tools. At Vernon Malone, there are many new technologies and creative spaces for students to enjoy...but I get to enjoy them, too! From 3D printers to robotic kits, a huge part of the fun is learning something new!
I learn from our students, YOUR children, every day! I look forward to a wonderful inaugural year, and many more years to come!
